[Nice when they're not trying to kill each other or you, Blue thinks, but he doesn't want Red to ever have to think about that either. Still, that was a relief.]

[But boy, does he ever feel that.]

[He tried not to think about it much, and it was better that he wasn't- this place was dangerous and he could get hurt.]

[...Honestly, he'd had the same conflict about Red before he arrived. But even so, Blue was a little selfish, and he couldn't regret it. As much as he struggles to do so, he feels compelled to make sure Red knows that.]

[It takes Red a long time to respond. It's not as if he doesn't believe what Blue is saying - they were back to being friends now. They had been together in Alola and this place was just one more adventure that they were tackling together.

[Part of him had wondered, maybe, if Blue would rather be doing this on his own. Just one more thing that Red came along to show him up on. The way Blue could get so cold sometimes when he was angry or hurt.

[Maybe part of him wondered if his oldest friend - maybe his only real friend - didn't really want him there.

[But it wouldn't be Blue's fault even if Red had thought that. And, besides, here he is now, telling him the opposite.

[It's a little hard to text while you're trying to wipe your eyes off - that's all.]

[Well. He could hardly blame him if he didn't believe it. After everything he'd put him through... Years of aggression, of bullying, of pushing him around in the only ways he could. Because where it mattered- in battles, in their run on the Pokémon League, in the approval of everyone that mattered to him- Red was always the real victor.]

[Red takes a long time to reply, and Blue tries not to feel disappointed in himself for being so stupid as to think that he could ever make up for everything, again.]

[So he's a little surprised when he gets the little 'dink' of a reply, even if it's just those few letters. It's bittersweet, in the way he doesn't know if Red is asking because he really doesn't believe him or not, but he'll always give the benefit of the doubt.]

[Even if he doesn't believe him.]

[He stares at his comm screen for another few minutes, fingers hovering over the keys and chest twisting, before he tentatively sends another bid for attention, afraid to let things just go quiet.] Is your job going any better? Find a new one??

[Ugh. His job. That's been another big frustration since arriving here. Red has never been a quitter, but it probably is about time that he starts seriously considering finding another one - this speech therapy thing just isn't working out no matter how hard he tries.]

[Ah jeez, Red. When it came to jobs and real adult life things, they were both still just kids learning how to get by; luckily with their talent in Pokémon, their former Champ status and minor celebrity, jobs in competitive battling had always been an option. Here...]

[...Maybe it was just time to move on to something else. Blue frowns a sigh at his comm, tapping a finger. What could Red even find here, though? Other than something at Blue or Niko's work, maybe, but Blue had asked at his job and they just didn't have space for another hire. And for anything more research-oriented or creatures other than simple dogs and cats, one needed a degree like back home to handle them. What to do...]

[--Well, maybe getting more acquainted with them might give him some ideas. Blue grins to himself as the idea pops into head- he could cheer Red up and help him find something else to do at the same time! Really, he is such a genius.]
